Even though you’re looking specifically for weight loss tips for body building, there honestly aren’t any that are exclusive to body building.  I know that goes against what you may have been told. Most exercises are not off limits regardless of whether you’re the average person striving for their personal fitness goals or a massive body builder looking to pack on a few more pounds of muscle.  As you will find throughout this site there are many elements needed for building muscle such as nutrition, rest and creating an anabolic environment.

For the purpose of this article I will focus on, what I think are, the best body building exercises or exercises that most if not all bodybuilders will agree are essential.

· Squats – Squats work more than seven different muscles, because of this they squats are one of the best exercises you can do. If you’ve never done squats before start light until you have the technique down.  You will be surprised how much you can actually lift once you have confidence and experience.

· Pull-UpsAnother huge key to building muscle pull-ups work you’re entire upper back, biceps and shoulders.  I remember when I added pull-ups to my workout program I think maybe I could do one.  Then after just a month I was up to 7 on the first set and declining each set thereafter.  Once again not just for bodybuilders but for all fitness levels.

· Dead Lifts – Again a huge key to bodybuilding.  I prefer stiff leg or Straight leg dead lifts which works more of your back along with hamstrings and glutes.  Every time I do these my back is just as sore as my hamstrings.  In between sets on these sometimes I will ad in some barbell rows and that equals a very sore back.

· Bench Press - All the above work your biggest muscles in your body and without increasing your pectoral muscles you would look a little goofy.  With bech press I prefer using mostly dumbbells for flat bench, incline and decline add in some fly’s or cable crossovers and you will get that good cut.

There are many other exercises that some would argue should be on the list, but for the most part they don’t work the body like these do.  The also work very well as home body building exercises since they don’t require any machines.
