I’m back on my stump and I’m screaming it to the masses this time, the math is simple and the outcome impressive!  If you want to learn how to lose weight quick, throw away all the weight loss tips that include gimmicks, massive changes in lifestyle, expensive supplements or the need to spend a 1/3 of your life in the gym.  You simply don’t need to worry about all that garbage.  When you follow my advice to lose weight quickly, you’ll see the pounds fall off and you won’t be miserable.  So, let’s get started.

You can start to lose weight quick and easy right now if you’ll simply burn more calories per day then you consume.  That’s it, end of article, no further discussion needed.  Seriously, if you are looking for the magic ingredient or the secret potion to make things happen without any thought or effort, you’re not going to find it here.  There are thousands of articles on the web, in books and in magazines with ways to lose weight quickly, but they all boil down to one thing, consuming fewer calories than you burn.

Let’s do the math together so we know where we need to go and get some specific plans worked out to keep us on track.  But, as we move forward with this, the last thing I want you to do is complicate things with all sorts of numbers and requirements.  The first thing you need to know is your resting or base metabolic rate (BMR).  We don’t really think about it much, but the truth is our body’s burn calories every second of every day.  There’s never a time when we’re not burning calories.  Yes, you can increase the amount of calories burned by engaging in some sort of exercise, but your body is burning at a standard rate all the time.

Here is the most common formula for calculating your BMR for women.

Your weight (lbs) x 4.35   – ex. 140 x 4.35 = 609

Your height (in.) x 4.7      – ex.   64 x 4.7   =  300.8

Your age (yrs) x 4.7          – ex.   36 x 4.7   =  169.2

Now, add 655 to the above amounts: 655 + 609 + 300.8 + 169.2 = 1734.  This means for a 36 year old women who is 36 years old, weights 140 lbs and is 5’4” tall, they’re base metabolic rate is 1,734 calories each day.  This is how many calories she will burn without doing a bit of exercise.  The calculations for a man are a bit different:

BMR = (6.23 x weight) + (12.7 x height) + (6.8 x age) + 66

Knowing this number should make it a lot easier for you to figure out how to lose weight quickly.  There are 3 different things you can do.  1) Eat less than your BMR each day. 2) Add exercise to increase your metabolic rate. 3) Do both of the above items each and every day.  This is where the ‘quick’ part of the equation kicks in.  When you compound your results by burning more and eating less, you’ll find the weight dropping off of your body faster than it ever has.
