Immediate stop eating any over-processed white starchy foods. This includes all of the white and a good amount of the whole wheat breads you’ll find in the store. Remember, if you are going to include some carbs in your diet, make sure they’re coming from whole grains. You also need to completely stop eating white rice and anything else that’s white and high in carbs. Baked potatoes are ok from time-to-time, but your pancreas and blood sugar regulation system would be much happier if you ate baked sweet potatoes. Pasta is an amazing source of over-processed white flour. Make a switch to the whole grain pasta and you’ll find you’re not as tired immediately following that huge spaghetti dinner. If you can’t handle a complete switch immediately, trying slowly including more of the whole grain pasta. Start with about 10% and then slowing include more from there. Eventually you’ll have completely switched to whole grain and you really have noticed it.
They’re really aren’t any exercises to lose stomach fat, but there are a lot of them that can make it look like you lost stomach fat. If you started working your core or abs every other day, a year from now you may have a set of 6 pack abs, but you may not see them if they’re covered with a layer of fat. Building muscle in your abs doesn’t increase the fat burn in that area, only the amount of muscle you build. What will happen when you work your core is your posture will improve dramatically. As your core is strengthened your body supports itself much better and you’re less likely to slouch. Believe it or not, standing properly upright will make your stomach look a lot smaller. I know of people, and I’ve done it myself, who do ab exercises when they’re standing in line at the bank. Just contract and hold your abs and then release them. You may even want to concentrate on walking with your abs slightly contracted or tightened.
